Looking Back on Our First Anniversary

I have had an amazing year being married to an amazing man. We recently celebrated our first anniversary in a quiet way. Most couples take trips or go on fancy dates, but that's not really us. I asked for something more subtle which was right up JD's alley. We decided to have a long date weekend. Here's a little of what we did.

Friday we had a very nice evening under the stars by the bon fire. Hot dogs, s'mores, and a failed attempt at pop corn were our fancy dinner. Word of advice, directions are put on the package for a reason! I bought the pop corn that comes in the little pan that you pop over the stove. It's not meant for bon fires. We burnt it up and it stunk so bad! Other than that everything was great. We saw a moon bow and watched our dog Rebel have fun play with his food bowl.

I had work the next day and we had grocery shopping after. It can't always be fun and games. We did grab pizza which was nice. We don't do that very often. Sunday we went to Baton Rouge and did what we did when we were dating. We went to some our favorite stores before having dinner at Cracker Barrel followed by putt putt golf.

Nothing grand, but it's a nice change to just get away from everything and think about the little moments that brought us to where we are now. I highly recommend that any couple do this from time to time. Without those moments, there wouldn't be the wonderful life you have together now. Cherish your love and grow with each other. And have fun!!! That is so important. And if you're thinking I haven't been married long enough to give any advice, you may be right. But I'm finding things out as I go and I'm doing it with JD right along with me. Just like it should be.
